Who is this qualification for?

This qualification is based on beauty therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS). This qualification is approved and supported by the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA), the standard setting body for hair, beauty, nails and spa qualifications.

Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 3 Beauty qualification.

This qualification requires you to develop skills to carry out IPL and laser treatments. This qualification allows you to gather evidence in a realistic working environment or real working environment without the need for fee paying clients.

What does this qualification cover?

• This qualification has been specifically designed for the 18+ age groups, builds on existing knowledge and understanding of therapy skills and will develop an enhanced repertoire of technical skills to prepare you for employment.
• You will have your skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment.
• This qualification is based on the national occupational standards for beauty therapy and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a specialist beauty therapist.
• The VTCT level 4 award in Laser and Light Treatments for Hair reduction is an advanced vocational qualification which will prepare you to reduce hair growth using laser and light systems.
• You will develop an understanding of safe working practice and controlling hazards in the salon and be able to identify those clients suitable for laser and light system treatments.
• This qualification will require research; it includes the skills involved in providing a thorough consultation with the client to formulate a specific course of treatment, tailored to suit individual client needs, use laser and light treatments for hair removal and to manage the health, safety and security of the salon.
